HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, harms the immune system by destroying the white blood cells that fight infection. This creates a risk for serious infections and certain cancers. AIDS, or Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, is an advanced stage of HIV infection.
Immunosuppression Heading link
Immunosuppression means the immune system is not working as effectively as normal. People with immunosuppression cannot fight off infections as well, and may get sick more easily or more often than people with normal immune systems.

Cancer is a term for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and can invade nearby tissues. Cancer cells can also spread to other parts of the body through the blood and lymph systems. There are several types of cancer.
