Pain Management

Managing chronic, acute, and end-of-life pain.

Pain Management | Palliative / Hospice Care

Pain management is the process of providing medical care that alleviates or reduces pain. Pain can be treated with analgesic medications, opiates, or other narcotics; with steroids or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs); or with antidepressants, which affect the brain’s perception of pain.

Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing life-threatening illness. It does so through the prevention and relief of suffering by identifying, assessing, and treating pain and physical, psychosocial and spiritual problems.
